Bands
Points North
Biography:
California-based Points North is a guitar-driven instrumental band that offers classic tones and song structures while maintaining a modern relevance. Their music ventures into both bluesy roots-rock and progressive rock - and points between. Elements of their music show influences from Rush, the Dixie Dregs, and even Joe Satriani, yet Points North brings it all together into a unique package.
The band is comprised of guitarist Eric Barnett, bassist Damien Sisson, and drummer Kevin Aiello. Barnett has attended the Manhattan School of Music, Juillard summer programs, and GIT in Los Angeles and his musical skill and versatility show through in his work with Points North. The solid rhythm section of Sisson and Aiello anchor the sound and add dimension to Barnett's playing.
Points North has generated considerable buzz in the San Francisco area, has made on-air radio appearances and has even opened for legendary guitarist Michael Schenker.
Distorted Voices
Biography:
Allentown, PA-based rock band Distorted Voices is the creation of guitarist Tom Martini, who is joined by vocalist Darin Boby, bassist Anthony DeCesare and drummer Buzz. Their musical style blends heaping portions of modern metal with elements of ambient music and electronica. In addition to the hard-hitting songs featuring Boby's vocals, Distorted Voices has ventured into the realm of instrumental rock with songs such as their namesake Distorted Voices and Visions.
Distorted Voices is currently rehearsing for an upcoming tour, then will be entering the studio to record an album.
LoNero
Biography:
The motto of instrumental band LoNero is "No Excuses" and after hearing their music you immediately know why. They have gone against the grain of popular music by delivering their own unique style of rock that is hard-hitting and, yet, melodic. The band was founded by guitarist Bill Lonero and includes William Baglivo (guitar), Mike McKaigg (bass), and Steve Spicer (drums).
LoNero have also gone against the music industry by taking an independent approach to releasing and promoting their music. They have forged a close, grassroots relationship with their fans which stands in sharp contrast with many established acts. LoNero has taken their music and their career into their own hands and are making "no excuses".
The band itself is an extension of Bill LoNero's solo instrumental guitar work. His solo album, Slather, is clearly influenced by instrumental guitar greats Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson. Nonetheless, Bill Lonero cites Angus Young as his greatest influence due to his attitude and Lonero, himself, exudes his own style in spades while paying homage to these influences.
