Jim Horne
Biography:
Pennsylvania guitarist Jim Horne (Feretti) began playing guitar at the age of 9. Jim began with some formal guitar lessons that covered the basic skills and while attending high school Jim had the opportunity to take courses in music theory. Those courses expanded not only his knowledge of music in general, but gave him a deeper insight into his guitar playing.
Taking what he had learned on his own, as well as what he picked up from other musicians, Jim soon formed/joined some local/national touring bands. These bands covered the rock and metal genres of that time. Jim was content playing that style of music in a band situation. However, after hearing of guitar greats like; Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine, Greg Howe, Jason Becker, Paul Gilbert, and Richie Kotzen. Jim was immediately drawn to the style of music that these and other guitar players of the "shred" era had to offer. He could not resist studying these styles of music.
In his early 20's Jim decided to focus all of his time as an instrumental musician. He composed music for his debut/demo CD "Zero Tolerance" - which was completed and released in August of 2005. As well as his latest release "Panic Attack" which was released in May of 2006. His style is a mix of progressive, jazz, metal, and shred.
Striving to stand out from the norm, Jim leans more towards the experimental side of music. For example, his dream project would be all virtuoso musicians playing outside the normal music-box compositions with all-out improvisation!
